I have had sad experiences with secondhand shoes that have basically collapsed from the inside, due to synthetic padding, etc, breaking down. Is it just a quality thing, and I need to buy better brands? Do you have any tips for evaluating how much life is in an older pair?
Ah yes that's unfortunately sometimes the case with secondhand shoes!! My recommendation is to never spend a lot on these and if needed, you can bring them to a cobbler to resole. I've done this with Prada secondhand boots I scored for 100€ and resoled for about 50€
