Love seeing the vintage pic alongside the text too. In Scotland we’re sort of spoiled for choice in the jumper department. I still find it interesting to know about the French and Italian designers though 💟
What a clever guide! I love it! I’ve been buying and wearing only vintage 2-ply and 3-ply cashmere, particularly those made in Scotland (Pringle, Ballantyne, Braemar, Johnston’s of Elgin), for decades. They’re beautifully constructed, soft, thick, and cozy, and they’ve stood the test of time. Same for my collection of wool sweaters from Ireland and Scotland—always vintage, as the quality is unmatched, even by contemporary luxury brands.
I’m back to being located in the US, so I did a search for Woolrich on Poshmark (which I think is much more popular than vinted here) but like almost all of the sweaters on there are made in china!! I wonder where the made in USA ones are!!

Fantastic!
thanks Sonia!! :)
Just bought the camel Lands End turtleneck. Love them but they are too pricey for me now. Thank you, I’m loving your Substack!
yay so glad you got it :) and thanks for the kind words Lisa!
I second Bompard! The quality is amazing. Stateside there are some great deals on secondhand sites because it's a lot less well known than in Europe.
good shout Audrey!! didn’t realize they’re still a best kept secret in the US. agreed they’re the best 😍
